Cabins in Austin Texas

The Artwork

The artwork at “The Rivery Retreat” was all done by  Nina Beall.  Guests will see large and small works throughout the property as well as the Studio located on the first floor of the main house! Born in east Texas, much of the work depicts the rural landscapes with exposure to the rough farmlands and dramatic landscapes of the south, its layers of culture, the various decorative arts with its patterns, and varied intricacies of the layers of folklore and romantic history that the work is rooted in.

From the artist:  “As a native Texan, I was drawn to the Austin area and its quiet, peaceful environment with rolling hills, incredible views for miles, abundance of large shade trees, waterways, and spring fed creeks.  As an artist/ painter for most of my life, the area seemed ideal for building my home and studio in a style that fit with the environment to be productive, peaceful, and inspired. The dwellings are designed with a nod to the Arts and Crafts Architectural Movement but with references to the greek revival farmhouses and rugged yet graceful influence of the south.  A focus on nature,  Texas vernacular, and easy access for traveling elsewhere to other areas inspire my work.”

Undergrad degree from The University of Texas, Austin; graduate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Several years of teaching at college level as well as numerous NEA grants for work and teaching skills.  The work has been shown extensively around the country and internationally in galleries and museums, as well as corporate and private collections.

Studio visits are by appointment, just a short walk from the property’s  accommodations for a restful GetAway or a Wellness Retreat stay.  (website in progress currently)@ www.NinaBeall.com
