Cabins in Austin Texas

The Artwork

The artwork at “The Rivery Retreat” is by, artist  Nina Beall.  Guests will see large and small works throughout their accommodation.  The Art Studio is  located on the first floor of the main house.

Much of the work depicts the rural landscapes of East Texas,  exposing rough farmlands and dramatic landscapes of the south, its layers of culture, folklore, the decorative arts, with richness of patterns, and varied history that the work is rooted in.

From the artist:  “As a native Texan, I was drawn to the Austin area and its quiet, peaceful environment with rolling hills, views for miles, abundance of large shade trees, waterways, and spring fed creeks.  As an artist for most of my life, the area seemed ideal for building my home and studio in a style that fit with the environment to be productive, peaceful, and inspired. The dwellings  and grounds are designed with a nod to the Arts and Crafts Architectural Movement but with references to the greek revival farmhouses and rugged yet graceful influence of the south.  A focus on nature,  Texas vernacular, and easy access for traveling elsewhere to other areas inspire my work.”

Undergrad degree from The University of Texas, Austin; graduate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Several years of teaching at college level as well as numerous NEA grants for work and teaching skills.  The work has been shown extensively around the country and internationally in galleries, museums, and is included in many corporate,  private, and museum collections.

Studio visits are by appointment.   Guests may schedule for an Art Workshop or book a special Retreat with Art focus ahead of their stay!  Art Retreat Workshops will be personalized groups’ preferences.  Specific level/s (beginning through advanced).  Take the survey and add other activities per your groups’ preferences.
