Meet Susan Haas: Therapeutic Harpist and Sound Healer
Susan Haas specializes in using harps and singing bowls for powerful sound healing experiences. In addition, she incorporates chimes and harp music in therapeutic settings like hospitals, hospice, spa days, and retreats. Moreover, Susan uses the harp for guided meditations with individuals or groups, creating deeply relaxing sessions.
Harp Credentials and Professional Background
Susan has over 40 years of harp experience and began professional performances in 1982. Since then, she has performed across the nation in orchestras and as a solo harpist. After a fatal diagnosis, Susan turned to natural healing and became passionate about sound therapy. Consequently, she became a Certified Clinical Musician (CTM-CCM) through a national board-certified training program. She is qualified to play harp bedside for patients in distress or near death. Additionally, she has served in facilities like Baylor Scott White and Ascension Seton hospitals. Her work includes Palliative Care, NICU, ICU, and Heart Hospital of Austin (St. David’s System). Susan plays improvised harp music based on each moment’s unique energy and emotional needs. Whether at retreats or hospitals, her intuitive harp work promotes inner peace and healing.
Guided Meditation Training and International Study
Susan trained in harp-guided meditation under Italian harpist Ludwig Conistabile. In fact, she attended his workshop in Brazil in the summer of 2024. Since then, she continues her studies with him online to deepen her guided meditation expertise.
Local Collaborations and Community Events
Susan has played solo harp at alternative care clinics like Lake Travis Integrative Medicine. Notably, she performed for a women’s sound healing workshop hosted there in 2023. She also collaborates with local sound healers at venues like Yoga Vida in Westlake. For example, she performed with Liria Rose (flute), Michael Langdon (handpan), and Jaya Love (gong, didgeridoo). She contributed harp music at Nature’s Treasures for a Winter Solstice Sound Healing event in December 2024. Looking ahead, Susan will perform at a meditation retreat by the Austin Transcendental Meditation Center in May 2025. Her wide-ranging work showcases deep expertise and a passion for therapeutic sound healing.
